Daiichi Life has launched SMARTCare Medical, its first medical reimbursement rider, designed to meet the diverse healthcare needs of Cambodian families.
Cambodia’s health insurance market remains at an early stage, with households continuing to face financial strain from high out-of-pocket healthcare costs. SMARTCare Medical helps address this gap by offering comprehensive coverage and financial protection, ensuring families are not left vulnerable when medical needs arise.
“SMARTCare Medical embodies our mission – from protecting life to empowering life – by giving families reliable financial protection when they need it most,” said Mr Mah Kin Yoong, CEO of Daiichi Life. “We envision health insurance becoming a part of daily life in Cambodia, and this product is a step toward making that vision a reality.”
He added, “We are also proud that this new product supports the Insurance Regulator of Cambodia’s goal of achieving 2% insurance penetration by 2030.”
The launch event was attended by Ms Tan Linna, Deputy Director General of the Insurance Regulator of Cambodia, who commended Daiichi Life’s initiative. “SMARTCare Medical represents the kind of innovation the Insurance Regulator encourages – solutions that are accessible and tailored to diverse needs,” she said. “Every new product introduced contributes to Cambodia’s national vision of safeguarding the future of Cambodian families.”
SMARTCare Medical broadens Daiichi Life’s portfolio by offering flexible coverage options and pricing tailored to diverse customer segments. The product provides families with financial security during key healthcare moments – from emergency services and hospitalization to treatment for critical illnesses and pregnancy-related complications.
Customers benefit from 100% coverage within package limits, while enjoying the convenience of accessing care without upfront payment at trusted partner hospitals across Cambodia, the region, and globally, reported Khmer Times.
