Singapore: AIA expands mental health coverage for corporate insurance policies

| 07 Oct 2024

AIA Singapore has expanded inpatient coverage for mental health care for its corporate insurance policies, at no additional premium.

Beginning January 2025, corporate employees insured by AIA Singapore — estimated at over 1.3 million people — will receive enhanced support for their mental wellness under the Group Hospital & Surgical Insurance (GHS).

The insurer is also raising the age limit for senior workers and expanding paediatric care direct access without referral letters from age 7 to age 12.

The expansions come after the AIA Live Better Study 2024 found that over half (59%) of Singapore consumers indicated that they need or might need more resources or support for mental wellness, identifying affordability (66%), accessibility (53%), and presence of workplace initiatives (51%) as essential resources and support required.

Other key corporate policy changes include treatment for in-patient mental care being on ‘as charged’ basis; introducing mobile impatient care at home as an alternative inpatient care delivery model; and enhancing accident and emergency outpatient coverage to Singapore government hospitals on an ‘as charged’ basis.

Employees are also granted complimentary access to WhiteCoat’s Plan Ahead Services (PAS).

This is expected to simplify the process of obtaining necessary legal documents, such as a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) and Advance Medical Directive (AMD).
