Jaslyn Ng is a familiar name in Prudential.
Having graduated from Nanyang Technological University (“NTU”) with a Bachelor’s Degree 2nd Class Upper Hons in Business (Human Resource Consulting with Minor in Psychology), she began her HR career at big multinational corporations like DHL, Coca-cola, etc. Being one of the youngest HR leaders in Singapore, Jaslyn was invited to co-author a HR book titled “10 Learnings from 10 HR Leaders”.
At the age of 33, she turned down the opportunity to be a Global Compensation & Benefits Director and began a career as a financial consultant. The opportunity cost for her was a stable annual salary of $250,000.
Jaslyn recalled it as extremely daunting for her to leave her comfort zone to start all over again as her entire working life had only revolved around HR. However, in her pursuit of balance in life and family, taking a step toward being a financial consultant freed her from frequent business trips, late-night conference calls and corporate politics which had manifested itself in her health.
As one of the top 5 finalists in the category Rookie Insurance Agent of the Year at the 4th Asia Trusted Life Agents & Advisers Awards, Jaslyn’s performance and achievements are outstanding.
Within 6 months of joining the insurance industry, she attained Premier Silver by being among the top 0.1% performers of Prudential Singapore, as well as the Million Dollar Round Table. On top of that, in her first full year in 2018, she attained Premier Summit, the highest Company Award, President’s Club, Top Rookie, and was the only Rookie Financial Consultant amongst 14 other Court of the Table qualifiers from her company.
Her mantra is simple “Success simply means we are better than who we were yesterday”. By not comparing herself to anyone else, the only competitor she has is herself; highly relatable in today’s context, since the corporate rat race is a never-ending cycle.
“So, even though yesterday’s you may be your competitor, they’re still on your side. They won’t run away to beat you when you fail to beat them one day.”
Today, she continues to protect lives through raising awareness and proper financial planning with her team as an Associate Financial Services Manager, and remains an active contributor on social media platforms.
