South Korea: Life insurers form self-regulatory department to strengthen consumer protection

| 30 Dec 2025

The Korea Life Insurance Association (KLIA) will carry out an organisational reshuffle to create a self-regulation department by reorganising the sales order management team and the advertising review team, which perform self-regulatory functions to prevent misselling and strengthen prior review of insurance advertisements.

In addition, the KLIA will establish a complaint service team to ensure that work such as handling insurance consumer complaints, life insurance consultations and guidance, and the insurance subscription inquiry system is run efficiently.

In particular, to strengthen counseling functions for consumers in North Jeolla, a Jeonju branch will be set up under the Honam regional headquarters.

There have been some reshuffling of personnel appointments as well, reported ChosunBiz.
