AIA Cambodia recently kicked-off the second edition of their AIA Children's Day football tournament by expanding the well-received and inclusive event to 40 teams.
The one-day tournament commemorating Children’s Day featured 12 teams in the U-11 category, 16 teams in the U-14 and eight in the U-16. A total of more than 900 excited, enthusiastic international and public-school students from Phnom Penh displayed their athletic skills at the T-Soccer football field.
Team Bloom All Year (Pka Rich Krub Rer Dov) closed the tournament as winners in the U-11 category, while team Beung Keng Kong high school and New Gateway school wrapped up the U-14 and U-16 categories respectively.
Organised to highlight the role sports play in promoting health and wellness, the event saw AIA Cambodia, the Kingdom’s leading life insurer, collaborating with Boeung Ket FC and the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia Phnom Penh (UYFCPP) to introduce football to more Cambodians, raise future champions, create solidarity, and enable youth to showcase their sporting abilities.
The AIA Children’s Day tournament aligns with AIA Cambodia’s purpose of helping Cambodians live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives. It also keeps to AIA Group’s AIA One Billion initiative to do the same for one billion people in Asia by 2030.
It additionally falls in line with AIA Cambodia’s ‘One Life, One Health’ campaign launched early this year. Themed “Cherish Life, Protect Health”, it encourages Cambodians to better enjoy life by focusing on overall wellness and reflects the insurer’s belief that good health impacts all aspects of life and is a defining factor in determining its quality.
The tournament is part of a line-up of sports events developed by AIA Cambodia for all ages and walks of life.
The launch of AIA Children’s Day was attended by Mrs Put Thyda, President of Boeung Ket football club, Her Excellency Tema Vichekal, vice president of Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia Phnom Penh, AIA Cambodia Chief Executive Officer Jane Tay and AIA management, life planners and staff, among others, reported Khmer Times.
