AIA's involvement in the safety programme of the annual Poson festival resulted in zero fatalities and the rescue of six lives.
This CSR initiative by the life insurer, is in its 29th year and is one of the longest standing projects in Sri Lanka and has greatly benefitted the entire community during the Poson festival.
Collaborating closely with Sri Lanka life saving, police, navy and the civil security division, AIA deployed over 500 dedicated lifeguards across 39 reservoirs and lakes in the districts of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Mihintale, Dambulla, and surrounding regions, ensuring that pilgrims could safely participate in their traditional bathing rituals. AIA also implemented a comprehensive safety campaign featuring prominently displayed warning signs, banners and digital media promotions throughout Anuradhapura district.
Since its inception, AIA’s Poson safety programme has saved over 260 lives. AIA insurance chief marketing officer Sasith Bambaradeniya said that through the programme they remain steadfast in their mission to promote safety, responsibility and community welfare.
“This initiative embodies AIA’s core values and our ongoing commitment to enriching lives across Sri Lanka,” Mr Bambaradeniya said.
